Registration and Nomination Process
The registration process for the Prime Ministerโs Awards web portal commenced on January 20, 2025. Interested candidates can submit their nominations starting from January 27, 2025. The deadline for submitting nominations is set for February 14, 2025. This timeline allows ample opportunity for districts and organizations to prepare and present their achievements in public administration.
The awards are designed to encourage constructive competition and innovation among public administrators. The focus is not solely on quantitative achievements but also on qualitative improvements in governance. This year, the awards will evaluate the performance of District Collectors under the Holistic Development Category. The evaluation will consider three key parameters: Good Governance, Qualitative Achievements, and Quantitative Outcomes. This comprehensive approach aims to foster a culture of excellence in public service.
Objectives and Evaluation Criteria
Since its inception in 2014, the Prime Ministerโs Awards have undergone significant changes under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The primary objective of the scheme is to promote the replication of best practices in governance. The awards aim to recognize and reward innovative solutions that enhance public service delivery.
This year, the awards will particularly focus on the performance of District Collectors. The evaluation will emphasize targeted individual beneficiaries and a saturation approach to implementation. The period of consideration for the awards spans from April 1, 2022, to December 31, 2024. A total of 16 awards will be presented, highlighting the best practices in public administration across various districts.
The evaluation process will involve multiple stages. Initially, a Screening Committee will shortlist candidates. This will be followed by evaluations from an Expert Committee and an Empowered Committee. The final recommendations will be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval.
Incentives and Recognition
The Prime Ministerโs Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2024 will offer significant recognition and incentives to the awarded districts and organizations. Each award will consist of a trophy, a scroll, and a monetary incentive of Rs. 20 lakh. This financial support is intended to be utilized for implementing projects or bridging resource gaps in public welfare initiatives.
The awards aim to inspire all districts to participate actively in the scheme. Districts with Aspirational Blocks will also be included in the Aspirational Blocks Programme category, which covers 500 Aspirational Blocks across 329 districts in India. This inclusive approach ensures that all regions have the opportunity to showcase their achievements and contribute to the overall improvement of public administration in the country.
