PM condoles the demise of Smt. Mukta Tilak

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the demise of former Pune mayor and MLA, Maharashtra, Smt. Mukta Tilak.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said;

“Smt. Mukta Tilak Ji served society with diligence. She made a mark by raising pro-people issues and had a noteworthy tenure as Pune’s Mayor. Her commitment to BJP will always be cherished by Karyakartas. Pained by her demise. Condolences to her family and supporters. Om Shanti.”

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Pune, Mukta Tilak (17 August 1965 – 22 December 2022), was elected Mayor of Pune for the period from 2017 to 2019. Tilak was the first member of the BJP to hold the Mayor’s position. She was the daughter-in-law of Jayantrao Tilak, who was Bal Gangadhar Tilak‘s grandson.

She passed away at a private hospital here after a five-year-long battle with cancer, the hospital authorities said. She was 57.
