Penalties for wrongly claimed subsidies under FAME INDIA Scheme

The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) had received complaints against 17 OEMs under FAME India Phase-II program in the past 18 months mainly concerning two aspects viz. PMP compliance and ex-factory price violation. In addition, incentive payments have been suspended in the event of such complaints where detailed investigations are required.

The following steps have been taken by MHI to investigate complaints against alleged original equipment manufacturers (OEMs):

  1. The disbursement of incentives on demand has been suspended
  2. Matter referred to MHI’s regulatory agencies for detailed investigation

Upon review of testing agency reports for alleged OEMs, it was found that six OEMs were fully PMP compliant while another seven OEMs were in violation of PMP regulations.

In addition, four OEMs have agreed to refund the excess amount for the ex-factory price violation to electric vehicle (EV) customers/buyers.

This information was given by Minister of State for Heavy Industries Shri Krishan Pal Gurjarin a written response to Lok Sabha today.
