Pariksha Pe Charcha (PPC) is an initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018. Its goal is to transform the stress associated with examinations into a celebration of learning. The 8th edition of PPC, held in 2025, has seen remarkable growth, with 3.56 crore registrations. This is a significant increase from the previous edition, which had 2.26 crore registrations. The surge of 1.3 crore registrations indicates a growing recognition of the importance of mental well-being and holistic education among students, teachers, and parents across India. PPC has evolved into a nationwide movement, resonating deeply with various stakeholders in the education sector.
The Evolution of Pariksha Pe Charcha
Since its inception, PPC has transformed from a simple program into a “Jan Andolan,” or people’s movement. This shift reflects its widespread acceptance and popularity. The initiative encourages students to view exams not as a source of anxiety but as an “Utsav,” or festival. This positive framing has struck a chord with many, leading to increased participation. The interactive format of PPC, which includes open dialogues between students, teachers, and the Prime Minister, has also contributed to its success.
The program emphasizes the importance of mental health and aims to create a supportive environment for students. By addressing exam-related stress, PPC fosters a culture where education is celebrated rather than feared. The growing participation in PPC is a testament to the changing attitudes towards exams and education in India. It highlights the need for a more holistic approach to learning, one that prioritizes mental well-being alongside academic achievement.
Engaging Activities and Nationwide Participation
To further strengthen PPC as a “Jan Andolan,” a series of engaging activities took place from January 12 to January 23, 2025. These activities were designed to involve students, parents, and teachers in celebrating PPC as a festival. A staggering 1.42 crore students, 12.81 lakh teachers, and 2.94 lakh schools participated in these events across various States and Union Territories.
The activities included indigenous games like Kho-Kho and Kabaddi, short-distance marathons, creative meme competitions, and engaging Nukkad Natak performances. Students also participated in poster-making contests and shared their experiences through testimonials. Yoga and meditation sessions were organized to promote relaxation and mindfulness. Schools hosted plays developed by students and conducted workshops, inviting special guests to share their insights. These diverse activities aimed to reduce stress, improve focus, and enhance performance during exams and beyond.
Culmination and Impact of PPC 2025
The culmination of these activities was marked by the screening of the “Bharat Hai Hum” series on January 23, 2025. This series showcased inspirational stories of valor and sacrifice. Following the screening, a quiz competition based on the series was conducted across 567 Kendriya Vidyalayas nationwide. A total of 55,961 students participated, including those from various educational institutions. Winners received prizes, and all participants were gifted a copy of “Exam Warriors,” a book authored by the Prime Minister.
This initiative not only tested students’ knowledge but also reinforced the valuable lessons imparted through the “Bharat Hai Hum” series. The success of PPC 2025 highlights its role in fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for students across India. By transforming exam stress into a celebration of learning, PPC continues to make a significant impact on the educational landscape of the country.
