NFDC Provides Free Residential VFX and Animation Training for Youth in Northeast India

The National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) has announced a new initiative aimed at empowering aspiring professionals from the North Eastern states of India. Launched on August 2, 2025, this fully residential training program focuses on 3D Animation and Visual Effects (VFX) and is designed to enhance the skills of participants from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. The program is free of charge and aims to bridge the gap in access to professional training in these regions.

Program Details and Eligibility

The NFDC’s training program is open to individuals aged 18 and above as of June 2025. Applicants must have completed at least 10+2 education or possess a 10th-grade certificate along with three years of relevant industry experience. A nominal registration fee of โ‚น1,180 is required for processing applications. Interested candidates can register online through the official NFDC website or the dedicated registration portal. The deadline for applications is August 15, 2025. A total of 100 candidates will be selected based on a screening and evaluation process.

Training Structure and Facilities

The selected candidates will undergo an intensive eight-month training program held at a state-of-the-art facility in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. This program consists of six months of classroom instruction followed by two months of on-the-job training. Participants will engage in hands-on learning, working on industry-relevant projects that simulate real-world workflows in film studios and content creation companies. Each participant will receive a high-performance laptop to aid their learning throughout the course.

Comprehensive Support and Resources

One of the standout features of this initiative is that it offers comprehensive support to participants at no cost. The NFDC will provide free residential accommodation, three meals a day, and access to training resources and mentorship. This initiative aims to ensure that talented youth from economically and geographically disadvantaged backgrounds can participate in India’s burgeoning digital economy without financial barriers.

Empowering the North East Region

Recognizing the untapped creative potential in India’s North Eastern states, NFDC has tailored this program to address regional disparities in access to professional training. This marks the third edition of NFDC’s Residential Program aimed at the youth of the North East, focusing on building a skilled workforce in digital arts and animation. The initiative not only seeks to equip participants with in-demand technical skills but also aspires to foster employment opportunities and entrepreneurship, ultimately contributing to long-term economic empowerment in the region. NFDC continues to play a pivotal role in India’s cinematic landscape, providing essential training and support to meet the evolving demands of the media and entertainment industry.
