New Helpdesk Launched for Global Trade Issues

The Department of Commerce and the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) have unveiled a new initiative aimed at addressing the complexities of global trade. The ‘Global Tariff and Trade Helpdesk’ is designed to assist exporters and importers facing challenges related to tariff changes, import surges, and other trade-related issues. Stakeholders are encouraged to utilize this resource to navigate the evolving trade landscape effectively.

Understanding the Global Tariff and Trade Helpdesk

The newly operationalized ‘Global Tariff and Trade Helpdesk’ serves as a vital resource for the export-import community. It focuses on a range of issues, including import and export challenges, surges in imports, dumping practices, EXIM clearance, logistics, supply chain difficulties, and regulatory compliance. This initiative aims to streamline the process for stakeholders who encounter obstacles in their trade activities.

Moreover, the Helpdesk will coordinate with various ministries, departments, and agencies at both the central and state levels to address trade-related concerns. By collecting and collating information on these issues, the Helpdesk seeks to provide effective resolutions and support to those in need.

How to Access Support

  • Visit the DGFT website at dgft.gov.in and navigate to the ‘Services’ section.
  • Select ‘DGFT Helpdesk Service’ and click on ‘Create New Request.’ Choose the category ‘Global Tariff and Trade Issues.’
  • Pick the relevant sub-category, such as Import Challenges, Export Challenges, or Regulatory Issues, fill in the necessary details, and submit the request.

Alternatively, stakeholders can email their issues to dgftedi@nic.in with the subject line ‘Global Tariff and Trade Helpdesk,’ or call the toll-free number 1800-111-550 for assistance.

Tracking Resolutions and Feedback

Once a request is submitted, stakeholders can track the status of their resolutions through the DGFT Helpdesk Services status tracker. Notifications via email and SMS will be sent to update users on the progress of their tickets. The DGFT encourages all trade stakeholders to take full advantage of these support facilities to ensure smoother operations in the global trade environment.

This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to facilitating trade and supporting the export-import community in navigating the challenges posed by an ever-changing global market.
