National e-Governance Awards 2025 Open for Nominations

The National Awards for e-Governance 2025 have officially launched, aiming to honor outstanding achievements in the implementation of e-Governance initiatives. With six distinct categories, the awards recognize innovations in technology, citizen services, and cybersecurity. The nomination portal opened on January 7, 2025, and will remain active until February 28, 2025, inviting participants from across the country.

Categories of Recognition

The National Awards for e-Governance 2025 feature six categories designed to highlight various aspects of digital governance:

    • Category I: Government Process Re-engineering through Technology for Digital Transformation (4 awards)

 

    • Category II: Innovation using AI and New Age Technologies for Citizen-Centric Services (3 awards)

 

    • Category III: Best e-Government Practices in Cyber Security (3 awards)

 

    • Category IV: Grassroots Initiatives for Enhanced Service Delivery (4 awards)

 

    • Category V: Replication and Scaling of Successful National Awarded Projects (1 award)

 

    • Category VI: Digital Transformation through Data Analytics (1 award)

 

These categories aim to encourage innovative solutions that improve public service delivery and enhance the overall governance framework.

Participation and Response

The response to the National Awards for e-Governance has been remarkable, with a total of 589 nominations submitted by the closing date. The breakdown of nominations by category is as follows:

    1. Government Process Re-engineering: 256 nominations

 

    1. Innovation using AI: 71 nominations

 

    1. Best Cyber Security Practices: 23 nominations

 

    1. Grassroots Initiatives: 163 nominations

 

    1. Replication of Successful Projects: 19 nominations

 

    1. Data Analytics in Digital Platforms: 57 nominations

 

Notably, this year marks the first time that Gram Panchayats and traditional local bodies have participated, with 143,648 Gram Panchayats from 26 states and union territories contributing to the initiative.

Award Evaluation Process

The evaluation process for the awards will involve several steps to ensure a thorough assessment of the nominations. Initially, a Screening Committee, chaired by the Joint Secretary of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), will shortlist applications. This will be followed by spot studies conducted by Under Secretary-level officers of the Government of India. A second Screening Committee will further evaluate the shortlisted applications before a Jury Committee, also chaired by the Secretary of DARPG, makes the final recommendations.

Winners of the National Awards for e-Governance 2025 will receive a trophy, a certificate, and a financial incentiveโ€”Rs. 10 lakh for the Gold Awardee and Rs. 5 lakh for the Silver Awardee. These funds are intended to support the implementation of projects or programs that enhance public welfare.

As the nomination period progresses, the anticipation builds for recognizing the innovative efforts that are shaping the future of governance in India.
