New Delhi, June 10, 2024: Following his swearing-in ceremony for the third term as Prime Minister, Narendra Modi swiftly moved to address farmer welfare concerns by signing his first file authorizing the release of the 17th instalment of the PM Kisan Nidhi scheme. This landmark decision is set to benefit approximately 9.3 crore farmers across the nation, with an estimated distribution of Rs 20,000 crores.

Expressing his unwavering commitment to the agricultural community, PM Modi remarked, “Ours is a Government fully committed to Kisan Kalyan. It is therefore fitting that the first file signed on taking charge is related to farmer welfare. We want to keep working even more for the farmers and the agriculture sector in the times to come.”

The PM Kisan Nidhi scheme, launched in 2019, aims to provide financial support to small and marginal farmers by offering direct income support of Rs 6,000 annually in three equal instalments. This initiative has played a crucial role in augmenting the income of farmers and ensuring their economic stability.

PM Modi’s swift action underscores the government’s prioritization of agricultural reforms and its dedication to the well-being of the farming community, laying a strong foundation for inclusive growth and rural prosperity.
