NADA India Hosts WADA Global Anti-Doping Workshop in New Delhi

National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) India, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, successfully hosted the second edition of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Intelligence & Investigations Workshop from July 21 to 25, 2025, in New Delhi. This significant event, organized with the support of INTERPOL and Sport Integrity Australia, attracted representatives from various National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs) and law enforcement agencies across South Asia. The workshop aimed to enhance cooperation and knowledge-sharing among professionals dedicated to maintaining the integrity of sports.

The five-day workshop featured comprehensive sessions that delved into critical topics such as intelligence operations, investigative methodologies, and the management of confidential sources. Participants also explored open-source intelligence gathering and effective analysis and interviewing techniques. The discussions emphasized the increasing necessity for intelligence-led and collaborative efforts to safeguard athletes and uphold the principles of fair competition. By bringing together experts from different countries, the workshop aimed to strengthen the global anti-doping framework and foster a unified approach to combating doping in sports.

Shri Hari Ranjan Rao, Secretary of Sports at the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts that made the workshop possible. Shri Anant Kumar, Director General of NADA India, noted that this workshop marked a significant milestone in WADAโs Intelligence and Investigations Capability and Capacity Building Project. He emphasized the importance of having delegates from ten South Asian countries, which contributes to the strengthening of the Global Anti-Doping Intelligence and Investigations Network (GAIIN). WADA Director of Intelligence and Investigations, Gรผnter Younger, also acknowledged the importance of the workshop, stating that it plays a crucial role in building expertise and ensuring open communication between NADOs and law enforcement agencies across Asia and Oceania.
Future Initiatives and Impact
The workshop is a vital component of WADA’s flagship initiative aimed at enhancing the Global Anti-Doping Intelligence and Investigations Network. By fostering global partnerships and reinforcing investigative capacities, the project seeks to elevate the international response to doping through improved collaboration and information-sharing. India is committed to continuing its support for this global initiative, with the final workshop scheduled for April 2026.
