NABL under QCI signs MoU with CREDAI to enhance quality

On November 25, 2024, a significant partnership was formed between the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) and the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI). This collaboration was announced during CREDAI’s Silver Jubilee celebration in New Delhi, attended by Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to enhance the quality and reliability of temporary site testing laboratories used in civil engineering projects across India.

The Importance of Temporary Site Testing Laboratories

Temporary site testing laboratories play a vital role in civil engineering projects, particularly for structures exceeding 50,000 square feet. These labs are responsible for testing essential materials like aggregates and concrete cubes directly at construction sites. Accurate testing is crucial for ensuring that the materials used in construction meet safety and quality standards.

NABL’s recognition scheme is designed to elevate the standards of these laboratories. By implementing this scheme, NABL aims to instill confidence in the accuracy and reliability of test results. This initiative is expected to improve the overall quality of construction materials, leading to safer and more durable structures. The collaboration between NABL and CREDAI marks a significant step toward achieving these goals, ensuring that the construction industry adheres to high-quality standards.

Key Figures Behind the MoU

The MoU was signed by Mr. N. Venkateswaran, CEO of NABL, and Mr. Shekar G. Patel, President Elect of CREDAI. They were joined by notable figures such as Mr. Jaxay Shah, Chairman of QCI; Mr. Manoj Gaur, Chairman of CREDAI; and Mr. Boman Irani, President of CREDAI. Their collective efforts highlight the importance of quality assurance in the construction sector.

Mr. Jaxay Shah emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, โ€œThe signing of the MoU between NABL-QCI and CREDAI is a major milestone in ensuring the quality and competency of temporary site testing laboratories.โ€ His remarks underline the commitment to enhancing the reliability of construction materials across India through NABL’s recognition scheme.

A Commitment to Quality Assurance

The collaboration between NABL and CREDAI is not just about improving testing standards; it is also about empowering developers throughout the country. Mr. N. Venkateswaran articulated this vision, stating, โ€œThe MoU with CREDAI is a pivotal step toward ensuring reliability in the construction industry.โ€ This partnership aims to promote NABLโ€™s Recognition Scheme, which is crucial for instilling confidence in the accuracy of test results.

By focusing on quality assurance, this initiative seeks to strengthen the integrity of building materials used in construction projects. The ultimate goal is to create a future where excellence in construction becomes the norm, benefiting both developers and end-users alike. This collaboration represents a transformative journey for the construction industry in India, promising to raise the standard of construction projects nationwide.
