MyGov Hosts “Think Social @ MyGov” Workshop to Enhance Digital Governance

MyGov, an initiative under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, held a successful one-day workshop titled “Think Social @ MyGov” on June 12, 2025, at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. The workshop aimed to enhance digital communication across various Ministries and Departments while promoting citizen engagement through platforms like YouTube, Meta, and LinkedIn. This initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of inclusive communication, known as Janbhagidari.

Workshop Highlights and Key Speakers

The workshop commenced with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp, attended by notable figures including Shri Nand Kumarum, President & CEO of NeGD, and Shri Shobhendra Bahadur, Director of MyGov. In his address, Shri Nand Kumarum emphasized MyGov’s digital journey and its significant role in fostering citizen-centric governance. He highlighted the importance of social media in connecting with the youth and enhancing governance communication. He also discussed flagship campaigns that have successfully encouraged public participation and transparency, outlining future strategies to utilize digital platforms for effective policy-making.

Shri Shobhendra Bahadur provided insights into MyGov’s 11-year evolution, detailing its increasing influence in government campaigns and citizen engagement. The workshop attracted digital communication professionals from various Ministries and Departments, who engaged in knowledge sessions led by experts from YouTube and Meta. These sessions focused on strategic content development, platform intelligence, and audience engagement methodologies.

Enhancing Digital Communication

The workshop aimed to improve digital communication strategies across Ministries and Departments. Participants learned about various aspects of social media, including enhancing visibility, engagement, and reach. They explored the use of analytics tools like Google Trends and discussed the effectiveness of visual content formats such as Reels and Stories. Understanding audience behavior and targeted content creation were also key topics, alongside discussions on WhatsApp API, Threads, and Meta AI.

Experts shared their knowledge on amplifying key government policies and programs through social media. Ms. Garima Tiwari presented a strategic overview of MyGov’s flagship initiatives, while Shri Ashish Khare led a session on innovative content creation and enhancing digital storytelling for government messaging. Shri Upendra Upadhyay provided insights on leveraging data analytics for informed decision-making, and Mrs. Renu Singh highlighted strategic outreach and inter-agency partnerships.

Showcasing Successful Campaigns

The workshop also featured several successful campaigns and strategic case studies. Notable examples included “Pariksha Pe Charcha 2025,” which achieved unprecedented citizen engagement with over 3 crore participants, and the “National Creators Awards,” which garnered 1.5 lakh nominations. The “Chandrayaan 3 Maha Quiz” was highlighted as a national knowledge campaign, while the “Campus Ambassador Programme” empowered youth as active stakeholders in governance.

Other initiatives discussed included the GDP Podcast and “Roar for Nature,” which aimed to educate youth on policy and sustainability themes. The MyGov WhatsApp Services during COVID-19 were recognized for facilitating citizen access to vaccination certificates, and “Operation Sindoor” was noted for countering misinformation. The introduction of MyGov Stream, a dedicated OTT platform for governance-related content, was also a significant highlight.

By uniting experts, strategists, and digital leaders, the event reinforced MyGov’s dedication to fostering transparent, inclusive, and citizen-centric engagement in the digital era.
