MY Bharat Youth Volunteers to Hold Kargil Vijay Diwas Padyatra on 26th July Commemorating 26 Years of India’s Victory in Kargil

MY Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat), under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, is set to host the โKargil Vijay Diwas Padyatraโ on July 26, 2025, in Drass, Kargil. This event commemorates the 26th anniversary of Indiaโs victory in the 1999 Kargil War. Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, will lead the padyatra, which will see participation from over 1,000 youth, veterans, armed forces personnel, and families of martyrs.
Details of the Padyatra
The padyatra will cover a distance of 1.5 kilometers, starting at 7:00 a.m. from Himabass Public High School in Drass and concluding at the Government Higher Secondary School in Bhimbet. This event aims to honor the sacrifices made during the Kargil conflict and engage the community in a spirit of remembrance and patriotism. Following the padyatra, Union Ministers, along with 100 youth volunteers, will visit the Kargil War Memorial to lay wreaths in tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives in the war.
Honoring Women Bikers and Environmental Initiatives
During the event, Dr. Mandaviya will also recognize 26 women bikers from the Shakti Udgosh Foundation. These bikers will arrive at the War Memorial after completing a long-distance motorbike rally dedicated to the martyrs of the Kargil War. Additionally, the padyatra will include a plantation drive as part of the โEk Ped Maa Ke Naamโ campaign, emphasizing the importance of environmental sustainability alongside patriotic duty.
Engaging the Youth and Community Activities
In the lead-up to the padyatra, MY Bharat has been actively involving local youth and communities through various activities. These include essay writing, painting, elocution competitions, and Yuva Samvads (youth dialogues). These initiatives aim to foster civic awareness, celebrate stories of valor, and strengthen the emotional connection between the youth and the armed forces. Such engagement is crucial for nurturing the ideals of service, sacrifice, and patriotism among the younger generation.
A Broader Initiative for National Pride
The padyatra is part of the larger Viksit Bharat Padyatras initiative, which seeks to promote national pride and civic engagement among the youth. This initiative aligns with the Prime Ministerโs vision of Jan Bhagidari in nation-building, bringing together various stakeholders, from youth to veterans, in a collective act of national remembrance. The event reinforces the role of citizens, particularly the youth, in contributing to the nationโs development and unity.
