Monthly Review of Accounts of Union Government of India upto the month of May, 2023 for the Financial Year 2023-24

The Union Government of India Monthly Account up to May 2023 has been consolidated and the reports have been published. The highlights are given below:-

Government of India received โ‚น4,15,691 crore (15.3% of corresponding BE 2023-24 total revenue) till May 2023, comprising โ‚น2,78,045 crore of tax revenue (net to core), โ‚น1,34,655 non-tax revenue crore Income and โ‚น2,991 crore non-debt capital receipt. Non-debt capital receipts consist of loan recovery โ‚น2,941 crore and miscellaneous capital receipts of โ‚น50 crore. โ‚น1,18,280 crore was transferred to the state governments as a devolution of the share of taxes by the Government of India till this period which is โ‚น23,097 crore more than the previous year.

The total expenditure incurred by the Government of India is โ‚น6,25,978 crore (13.9% of corresponding BE 23-24), of which โ‚น4,58,189 crore is on the revenue account and โ‚น1,67,789 crore is on the capital account. Out of the total revenue expenditure, โ‚น1,10,663 crore is due to interest payments and โ‚น55,316 crore is due to major subsidies.
