Monster Hunter Wilds Hits 10 Million Sales Milestone

Capcom has announced that its latest action-RPG, Monster Hunter Wilds, has achieved a remarkable sales milestone of 10 million copies across various platforms within just one month of its launch on February 28. This achievement not only marks a significant success for the game but also sets a new first-month sales record for Capcom. The gameโ€™s launch exceeded expectations, with over eight million copies sold within the first three days, making it the fastest-selling title in the companyโ€™s history.

Record-Breaking Sales Performance

In a press release issued on Monday, Capcom confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds has broken the company’s previous first-month sales record. The company attributes this success to the gameโ€™s unique blend of familiar series elements and innovative new features. โ€œBy combining the series’ appeal with new elements, we have created an environment where a wider range of players can enjoy the game together,โ€ Capcom stated.

The introduction of crossplay, a first for the Monster Hunter series, along with a simultaneous release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, has broadened the gameโ€™s accessibility. Additionally, the new Focus Mode mechanic and seamless transitions between settlements and ecosystems have enhanced the immersive experience for players. These features have generated significant excitement, contributing to the impressive sales figures.

Yuya Tokuda, the director of Monster Hunter Wilds, expressed gratitude to fans in an open letter, stating, โ€œWe are very happy that so many people around the world are playing the game.โ€ To celebrate the 10 million sales milestone, Tokuda announced plans for a free item pack for the community, encouraging fans to stay tuned for further details.

Upcoming Title Update Set for April 4

Capcom has also revealed that the first free Title Update for Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on April 4. This update will introduce a beloved monster and the new Grand Hub, an in-game settlement designed for players to gather and interact online. Alongside these additions, the update will include various tweaks and improvements to enhance gameplay.

Further updates are on the horizon, with another scheduled for the end of May and a second free Title Update expected in the summer. Capcom has committed to providing ongoing support for Monster Hunter Wilds through additional free updates.

The first Title Update will also address technical issues reported by PC players, particularly those using Steam. Tokuda noted that improvements in game stability, including reduced VRAM usage and an upgrade to the DirectStorage version on Steam, will be implemented in the upcoming update. โ€œThese should result in an overall improvement in stability for our PC players,โ€ he assured.

Launch Success and Player Engagement

Since its release on February 28, Monster Hunter Wilds has made a significant impact on the gaming community. The game reached one million concurrent players on Steam on launch day, quickly becoming the fifth most played game of all time on the platform. Capcom previously reported that the game sold eight million units within just three days of its launch, highlighting its overwhelming popularity. As Monster Hunter Wilds continues to engage players with its dynamic gameplay and community features, Capcom remains committed to enhancing the player experience through regular updates and new content. The combination of innovative mechanics and the beloved Monster Hunter formula has clearly resonated with fans, setting a high bar for future titles in the franchise.
