MITL Marks Six Years of AURIC Smart City Development
Maharashtra Industrial Township Limited (MITL) marked a significant milestone today by celebrating the 6th Anniversary of AURIC Industrial Smart City at the AURIC Hall in the Shendra Industrial Area. This event coincided with the first anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s dedication of the Bidkin Industrial Area (BIA) to the nation, which took place on September 29, 2024. The celebration showcased AURIC’s accomplishments and outlined its ambitious vision for future growth, including the launch of several initiatives aimed at enhancing its digital and service ecosystem.
New Initiatives and Infrastructure Developments
During the anniversary celebration, MITL introduced several initiatives designed to bolster AURIC’s digital framework and service offerings. Among the highlights was the unveiling of the new MITL logo and website, which aims to enhance the visibility and accessibility of the township’s services. Additionally, the rollout of the Utility Billing Dashboard and the Right to Services feature were announced, aimed at improving user experience for businesses and residents alike. A coffee table book chronicling AURIC’s journey and vision was also released, providing insights into its development and future aspirations.
A significant infrastructure enhancement was marked by the inauguration of the AURIC–Samruddhi Connector. This new route provides direct access from AURIC to the Samruddhi Mahamarg (Mumbai–Nagpur Expressway), greatly improving connectivity to major cities like Mumbai and Nagpur, as well as the JNPT Port. This strategic link is expected to reduce transportation times and costs, thereby enhancing the ease of doing business for industries operating within AURIC.
Achievements Over Six Years
AURIC has established itself as a beacon of industrial transformation in Maharashtra over the past six years. The township has successfully allotted 327 plots across 3,039 acres of industrial land and an additional 137 acres of mixed-use land. This development has attracted projects with an impressive investment potential exceeding ₹72,036 crore, with the capacity to create over 63,700 jobs. Currently, 78 units are operational, while more than 70 factories are under construction, and over 182 are preparing to commence construction.
The infrastructure at AURIC is designed to be fully operational and ready for immediate use. The township boasts a “plug-n-play” model, featuring wide roads, reliable power and water supply, and advanced sewage and waste treatment systems. This world-class infrastructure significantly reduces the time and costs associated with setting up new factories, making it an attractive destination for both local and international investors.
Vision for Future Growth
During the anniversary event, Industries Minister Shri Uday Samant emphasized AURIC’s pivotal role in driving Maharashtra’s industrial growth and its contribution to the national vision of Viksit Bharat@2047. He highlighted the enormous potential of AURIC to attract significant investments and establish itself as a global manufacturing hub in line with the ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ initiative. The minister assured attendees that the government would continue to foster a supportive policy environment to ensure AURIC remains a model industrial smart city.
Looking ahead, Minister Samant announced plans for further land acquisition to facilitate the city’s expansion while ensuring that the livelihoods of local farmers are not adversely affected. MITL officials, including Shri P. D. Malikner and Shri Datta Bhadakwad, extended invitations to potential investors, reaffirming their commitment to developing AURIC into a global manufacturing powerhouse.
AURIC, located in the Shendra-Bidkin Industrial Area, is a master-planned, greenfield smart city that serves as a critical hub for the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). Developed by MITL, AURIC aims to create a world-class manufacturing ecosystem that integrates residential, commercial, and industrial zones, thereby enhancing efficiency and quality of life in the region.
