Ministry of Textiles Completes ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2025’ with 311 Activities and Over 16,000 Participants Nationwide
The Ministry of Textiles has successfully concluded its participation in the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2025 campaign, which ran from September 17 to October 2, 2025. Under the theme “Swachhotsav,” the initiative saw the completion of 311 activities, engaging over 16,052 participants nationwide. This campaign, aligned with the vision of a “Clean India,” emphasized a collective approach to cleanliness, involving employees, citizens, and stakeholders across various Ministry offices and organizations.
Special Interaction with Safai Mitras
A notable aspect of the campaign was a special interaction program led by the Hon’ble Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh, with the Safai Mitras of the Ministry. During this event, the Minister expressed his appreciation for their unwavering commitment to maintaining hygiene and sanitation. He acknowledged the essential role these workers play in society, highlighting their contributions to public health and cleanliness.
The interaction provided a platform for Safai Mitras to share their experiences, challenges, and suggestions. Each participant was honored with a wellness kit that included a T-shirt, mask, sanitizer, and other essentials. Additionally, food packets were distributed, fostering a supportive and respectful atmosphere that reflected the Ministry’s commitment to labor dignity and welfare.
Swachhata Activities Conducted
The campaign featured a variety of activities aimed at promoting cleanliness and sustainability. Key highlights included the Swachhata Pledge, which was initiated across organizations to reinforce cleanliness as a core value. Cultural programs were organized at NIFT campuses and other institutions, showcasing art, music, dance, and thematic workshops that promoted cleanliness.
Cleanliness drives were conducted in offices, public spaces, beaches, parks, and water bodies. Innovative waste-to-art installations were created using discarded materials by various organizations, including the Jute Corporation of India and the National Jute Board. Workshops on sustainable fashion and cyber hygiene were also held, emphasizing responsible waste management and safe digital practices. The installation of selfie points and standees encouraged digital engagement and awareness among participants.
Nationwide Participation and Impact
On September 25, 2025, the Ministry of Textiles spearheaded a nationwide Shramdaan initiative, involving all organizations under its umbrella. This initiative included extensive cleaning, waste collection, and beautification drives, engaging over 2,766 participants in 152 events. The campaign identified and transformed 107 black spots and cleaned 45 public spaces, including parks and beaches.
Additionally, the Ministry conducted 18 Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir, providing health check-ups to 1,770 sanitation workers and distributing PPE kits to 75 workers. Awareness sessions on government welfare schemes reached 7,373 workers, benefiting a total of 9,543 individuals. The campaign also featured advocacy events, door-to-door awareness drives, and initiatives to reduce single-use plastic, further promoting public engagement in cleanliness efforts.
The culmination of the campaign on October 2, 2025, coincided with the celebration of Swachh Bharat Diwas, marked by the felicitation of Safai Mitras and various beautification activities. The Ministry of Textiles reaffirmed its commitment to cleanliness, sustainability, and the dignity of labor through this comprehensive campaign.
