Ministry of Mines Hosts ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’ Event with Over 20,000 Participants

The Ministry of Mines is enthusiastically marking the 11th International Day of Yoga, embracing this year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” This theme emphasizes the vital link between personal wellness and the health of our planet, showcasing yoga as a transformative practice. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry is implementing various initiatives to promote yoga within its workforce and the broader community, culminating in a major celebration scheduled for June 21, 2025, in New Delhi.

Nationwide Yoga Initiatives

In preparation for the International Day of Yoga, the Ministry of Mines has organized a series of yoga sessions across the country. The main event will take place at Vinay Marg in New Delhi, starting at 7:00 AM, led by Secretary V.L. Kantha Rao. This gathering is expected to attract around 300 participants, including senior officials, staff, and their families. Additionally, field organizations under the Ministry are hosting yoga sessions at over 81 locations nationwide, including mine sites and corporate offices, to ensure widespread participation and engagement.

The Ministry’s commitment to promoting yoga extends beyond the main event. A comprehensive six-day Yoga Boot Camp was conducted from June 14 to June 20, engaging officials, mine workers, and local communities. This initiative included inclusive yoga sessions and wellness talks, reaching over 20,000 individuals. The boot camp aimed to foster a culture of wellness and mindfulness, integrating yoga into daily life for participants from various backgrounds.

Record Turnout at Mega Yoga Event

A significant highlight of the celebrations was the mega yoga event held on June 20 at LB Stadium in Hyderabad. Organized by Union Minister for Mines G. Kishan Reddy, this event drew an impressive turnout of over 35,000 participants. Attendees included personnel from the Indian Army, government offices, yoga organizations, students, and local citizens. This mass yoga session served as a powerful demonstration of unity and collective wellness, reinforcing the importance of yoga in promoting physical and mental health.

The event not only celebrated yoga but also highlighted the government’s broader vision of integrating wellness into workplace productivity and societal well-being. The enthusiastic participation from diverse groups underscores the growing recognition of yoga as a vital practice for enhancing overall health and fostering community spirit.

Community Engagement and Wellness Focus

The Ministry of Mines has made significant efforts to engage local communities in yoga practices. The Yoga Boot Camp included sessions tailored for school children, women employees, and even mine workers at underground sites. This inclusive approach aimed to make yoga accessible to all, promoting physical fitness and mental clarity across various demographics.

In addition to yoga sessions, the boot camp featured wellness talks and creative contests, further enriching the experience for participants. The Ministry’s initiatives reflect a commitment to enhancing workplace productivity and societal well-being through yoga, emphasizing its role as a tool for personal and communal health.

As the Ministry of Mines continues to champion yoga, it aims to inspire individuals and communities to embrace this ancient practice, fostering a healthier and more connected society. The upcoming International Day of Yoga promises to be a celebration of unity, wellness, and the shared responsibility of caring for our planet.
