Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh Launches Curtain Raiser for Emerging Science, Technology & Innovation Conclave (ESTIC-2025)
Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, recently launched the curtain raiser for the inaugural Emerging Science, Technology & Innovation Conclave (ESTIC-2025). Scheduled for November 3-5, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, the event aims to foster innovation and collaboration across various sectors. Themed “Imagine Innovate Inspire for Viksit Bharat 2047,” the conclave will spotlight emerging technologies and provide a platform for young innovators and startups to connect with industry leaders and mentors.
Focus on Emerging Technologies
During the launch, Dr. Singh praised the efforts of the Principal Scientific Adviser’s office and various scientific ministries for creating ESTIC as India’s first integrated platform for science, technology, and innovation. He emphasized that the conclave will concentrate on eleven critical thematic areas, including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, biotechnology, space, and clean energy. These fields are vital for India’s strategic autonomy and future resilience. The minister highlighted that the conclave aims to harness the potential of these technologies to drive India’s growth and innovation.
Dr. Singh noted that India has made significant strides in the global economy, moving from the 11th to the 4th largest economy in just over a decade, largely due to a strong focus on technological advancement. He expressed confidence that ESTIC-2025 would serve as a catalyst for further innovation, enabling India to solidify its position as a global leader in science and technology.
A Platform for Young Innovators
The upcoming conclave is designed to empower young innovators, startups, and researchers by providing them with opportunities to showcase their solutions and connect with key industry stakeholders. Dr. Singh stressed the importance of transforming India’s demographic dividend into an innovation dividend. He pointed out that the event will facilitate mentorship and collaboration, allowing emerging talents to contribute significantly to India’s journey toward becoming a global knowledge powerhouse.
The minister also highlighted India’s growing reputation in the patent domain, noting that the country ranks sixth in patent filings and fourth in scientific publications. He projected that India is on track to surpass the United States in patent filings by 2029, underscoring the nation’s commitment to fostering innovation.
Collaboration Across Ministries
Dr. Ajay Kumar Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, spoke at the event, emphasizing that ESTIC-2025 marks a new era of collaboration among 13 ministries and departments. He described the conclave as an essential opportunity to inspire change and innovation in line with the Prime Minister’s vision for inclusive development. Dr. Sood highlighted that the event will serve as a dynamic platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange, featuring participation from global experts, Nobel laureates, and young researchers.
The Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, Prof. Abhay Karandikar, also addressed the audience, explaining that the conclave will chart a comprehensive roadmap for achieving Viksit Bharat 2047. He emphasized the unique whole-of-government approach that integrates innovation across various sectors, ensuring that science and technology directly address societal needs and contribute to national development.
Engagement of Scientific Communities
The curtain raiser event attracted Secretaries from 13 ministries, members of the scientific community, and representatives from research institutions and industry. This diverse participation underscores the collaborative spirit of ESTIC-2025, which aims to unite researchers, policymakers, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs. By bringing together these stakeholders, the conclave seeks to shape India’s scientific roadmap and foster a culture of innovation that aligns with the nation’s development goals.
