Microsoft Unveils AI Features for All Copilot+ PCs

Microsoft is broadening the reach of its artificial intelligence (AI) features to include Intel and AMD-powered Copilot+ PCs. Announced on Monday, this expansion introduces popular tools like Live Captions, Cocreator, Restyle Image, and Image Creator, which were previously exclusive to Snapdragonโs X series chipsets. The rollout will begin with the March 2025 Windows non-security preview update, making these features accessible to a wider range of users.
New AI Features for Intel and AMD Users
In a recent blog post, Navjot Virk, Corporate Vice President of Windows Experiences at Microsoft, detailed the exciting expansion of AI capabilities to Intel and AMD chipsets. Until now, many of the Copilot-focused AI features were limited to devices powered by Snapdragon X series chipsets. With this update, users of Intel Core Ultra 200V and AMD Ryzen AI 300 series chipsets will now enjoy the same advanced functionalities.
The features being introduced include Live Captions, which provide real-time translations for audio and video content during virtual meetings, podcasts, or video playback. Cocreator, integrated into the Paint app, allows users to transform simple doodles into intricate artwork, with adjustable creativity levels. Additionally, Restyle Image and Image Creator are now available in the Photos app, enabling users to apply various artistic styles to their photos and generate images based on text prompts, respectively.
Accessibility Enhancements for Snapdragon Users
In a separate announcement, Microsoft revealed that Copilot+ PCs powered by Snapdragon X series chipsets will receive new capabilities through the Voice Access feature. This enhancement will enable users to interact with their devices using more descriptive and flexible language, simplifying the process of executing complex commands. Microsoft aims to reduce the learning curve associated with this tool, making it more user-friendly. This feature is expected to be available for Intel and AMD-powered devices later this year.
Rolling Out Over the Month
The new AI features will be rolled out gradually throughout the month via the Windows controlled feature rollout (CFR) process. Users can expect to see these updates as part of the March 2025 Windows non-security preview update. This initiative reflects Microsoftโs commitment to enhancing user experience across a broader range of devices, ensuring that more users can benefit from cutting-edge AI technology.
