Microsoft Recall Now Available for Copilot+ PCs

Microsoft has announced the introduction of three innovative artificial intelligence (AI) features for its Copilot+ PCs, set to debut in a preview update for April 2025. These enhancements, which include the Recall feature, an upgraded Windows search, and the new Click to Do functionality, aim to improve user experience and productivity. The rollout is scheduled to begin next month, making these tools accessible to a broader audience.
New AI Features for Enhanced User Experience
In a recent blog post, Microsoft detailed the upcoming features that will be available on all Copilot+ PCs, which are powered by Snapdragon, Intel, and AMD processors. The features are part of the April 2025 Windows non-security preview update and are expected to reach consumers widely in May. Among these, Recall stands out as a significant addition, designed to assist users in tracking their activities by taking periodic screenshots of their on-screen content. This feature aims to help users easily remember where they left off in their tasks during their previous sessions.
Recall was initially introduced in May 2024 but faced scrutiny from security experts regarding user privacy and data security. In response, Microsoft has made substantial improvements to the tool over the past year, incorporating various security measures and making the AI experience opt-in. The updated version of Recall was first made available to Windows Insiders in November 2024 and is now being rolled out to a larger user base.
Improved Windows Search Functionality
Another notable enhancement is the improved Windows search feature, which will allow users to conduct searches using natural language queries. This means that users can describe what they are looking for without needing to specify file names, creation dates, or keywords. The Copilot will interpret these natural language requests, making it easier for users to find files and information quickly and efficiently.
This upgrade is expected to streamline the search process significantly, enhancing productivity for users who often struggle with traditional search methods. By enabling a more conversational approach to searching, Microsoft aims to make the experience more intuitive and user-friendly.
Introducing Click to Do
The third feature, Click to Do, is designed to provide contextual actions based on the content displayed on the user’s screen. This innovative tool can interact with both text and images, allowing users to perform a variety of actions such as summarizing, rewriting, and copying content effortlessly.
Additionally, Click to Do offers a unique capability to remove objects from images, even if they are embedded in PDF files. To utilize this feature, users simply need to press the Windows key and left-click on their mouse or trackpad. This functionality is expected to enhance the efficiency of tasks involving visual content, making it easier for users to manipulate and manage their digital assets.
