Set to launch on June 5, alongside the Nintendo Switch 2, this game promises to be the largest in the Mario Kart series. The 16-minute Nintendo Direct showcased a vibrant open world filled with diverse environments, including cities, plains, deserts, and oceans. Players can navigate through various racing modes such as Grand Prix, Knockout Tour, and Free Roam, all set within this interconnected map. The game introduces several new courses, including Mario Bros. Circuit, the urban-themed Crown City, and Salty Salty Speedway, which features winding canals. Other notable tracks include the icy Starview Peak, where racers will speed down a snowy mountain, and Boo Cinema, a haunted theater track filled with ghosts.
In addition to these new courses, Mario Kart World will bring back fan-favorite tracks like Toad’s Factory, Peach Beach, and Wario Shipyard. The character roster is equally impressive, featuring classic characters like Mario, Luigi, Bowser, and Peach, alongside newcomers such as Goombas, Spike, and the viral sensation, Cow. This blend of old and new characters is sure to appeal to long-time fans and newcomers alike.
Racing Modes and Gameplay Features
Mario Kart World offers two primary racing modes: Grand Prix and Knockout Tour. Grand Prix remains true to the classic Mario Kart format, where players compete in four races to earn various cups. The Knockout Tour mode presents a different challenge, featuring extended rallies across multiple tracks with checkpoints. Mario Kart World supports both online and local multiplayer options.
