Lok Sabha Speaker Launches Suposhit Maa Abhiyan Phase Three

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated the third phase of the Suposhit Maa Abhiyan on Wednesday at the Police Parade Ground in Bundi. This initiative aims to empower mothers and safeguard the health of pregnant women and newborns. Birla emphasized that the campaign seeks to uplift the most vulnerable segments of society, highlighting its role as a mass movement for health and nutrition.
A Commitment to Maternal Health
During the launch, Om Birla articulated the campaign’s vision, stating, “If the mother is healthy, the child will be healthy, and only a healthy child can contribute to a strong society.” He underscored the importance of maternal health, describing mothers as symbols of compassion and sacrifice. The Suposhit Maa Abhiyan is designed to raise awareness among mothers about their health, which Birla considers essential for building a self-reliant community. He reiterated the campaign’s goal: to ensure that every needy family has access to proper nutrition and health care.
Comprehensive Support for Pregnant Women
The Suposhit Maa Abhiyan will provide pregnant women with nutritious food, essential medications, and health services. Birla expressed satisfaction with the campaign’s success in promoting health awareness within the community. He called on social workers to assist in reaching out to pregnant women, ensuring they receive the necessary support. The initiative has already identified over 1,800 pregnant women from underprivileged families who will benefit from monthly health check-ups and nutrition kits until delivery.
Infrastructure Development and Monitoring
In addition to launching the campaign, Birla inaugurated various development projects in Bundi and Talera Panchayat Samiti, with a total investment of โน17.13 crore. The program includes the establishment of health cards for continuous monitoring of women’s health. These cards will facilitate regular follow-ups, allowing health professionals to provide free consultations and check-ups. The initiative aims to educate women on health precautions and proper child care, ensuring a holistic approach to maternal and child health.
Celebrating Five Years of Impact
The Suposhit Maa Abhiyan has made significant strides since its inception on February 29, 2020. The second phase commenced on May 17, 2022, and the third phase began on February 3, 2025. To date, the campaign has distributed over 100,000 nutrition kits and reached more than 18,000 beneficiaries through over 800 distribution camps. Notable achievements include an increase in normal deliveries, healthier births, and a reduction in maternal and infant mortality rates. The campaign continues to strive for a healthier future for mothers and children in the community.
