LG Reassesses Dolby Vision 2 Integration for TVs
Dolby has unveiled Dolby Vision 2, an upgraded version of its high dynamic range (HDR) format, which introduces a sophisticated picture analysis engine and allows creators to control motion smoothing for the first time. Hisense Leads the Charge for Dolby Vision 2
Hisense stands out as the first company to confirm support for Dolby Vision 2, albeit on a limited basis. The company plans to integrate the new HDR format into its upcoming RGB mini-LED television lineup, expected to launch in early 2026. These new models will range in size from 50 to 100 inches, catering to a variety of consumer preferences. Additionally, Hisense has announced that its current flagship model, the Hisense 116UX, will be upgradeable to support Dolby Vision 2, providing reassurance to customers who invested in this high-end television priced at $30,000. This proactive approach positions Hisense as a leader in adopting the latest HDR technology.
Other Manufacturers’ Stances on Dolby Vision 2
While Hisense has taken a definitive step towards supporting Dolby Vision 2, other manufacturers have been more reserved. TCL has not yet made an official announcement regarding its plans for the new HDR format, although it was observed displaying the Dolby Vision 2 logo at the recent IFA 2025 show. In contrast, Samsung has consistently opted not to support Dolby Vision in its televisions, making it unlikely that the company will embrace the next-generation version of the HDR format. Additionally, brands like Panasonic, Roku, Amazon, and Philips have not released any statements about Dolby Vision 2, despite their existing support for Dolby Vision on current models. As a result, many manufacturers, excluding Samsung, appear to be in a holding pattern, assessing the potential benefits of Dolby Vision 2 for future products.
