Launch of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 Initiative

To promote cleanliness and community engagement, the Department of Justice is set to launch the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2025 (SHS 2025) from September 17 to October 2, 2025. Under the theme โ€œSwachhotsav,โ€ the campaign aims to align with the festive spirit of the season while encouraging collective action towards a cleaner environment. The initiative will include various activities focused on enhancing cleanliness within the department and surrounding areas.

Campaign Objectives and Activities

The SHS 2025 campaign will emphasize several key areas of action. One of the primary focuses will be on Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) through Shramdaan activities, which aim to improve overall cleanliness at the Department of Justice located in Jaisalmer House, New Delhi. Daily cleaning efforts will be implemented in various sections of the building, including rooms, corridors, the canteen area, and washrooms. This consistent maintenance is crucial for fostering a hygienic work environment.

Another significant aspect of the campaign is the Clean Green Utsav, an eco-friendly celebration that will involve planting trees in the front lawn of Jaisalmer House. This initiative will also include a cleanliness drive around the entry and exit gates of the building, reinforcing the commitment to maintaining clean public spaces. These activities are designed to not only beautify the surroundings but also to promote environmental sustainability.

Support for Housekeeping Staff

As part of the campaign, the Department of Justice will introduce the Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivirs. This initiative aims to support housekeeping staff by providing them with Swachhata kits and incentives during the campaign period. Recognizing the essential role that these workers play in maintaining cleanliness, the department seeks to enhance their welfare and acknowledge their contributions.

Additionally, a briefing session on the three Rโ€™sโ€”Reduce, Reuse, and Recycleโ€”will be conducted by the Joint Secretary (Admin) on September 25, 2025. This session aims to educate staff on sustainable practices and encourage them to adopt environmentally friendly habits in their daily routines.

Nationwide Participation and Oath Ceremony

On September 25, 2025, the Department of Justice will participate in a nationwide one-hour Shramdaan event organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, titled โ€œEk Din, Ek Ghanta Ek Saath.โ€ This collective effort aims to unify various departments and communities in the pursuit of cleanliness.

To kick off the SHS 2025 campaign, the Secretary of Justice administered an oath on โ€˜Swachhataโ€™ to department officials on September 17, 2025. Throughout the campaign, officers and staff will engage in Shramdaan activities, which include deep cleaning the Jaisalmer House complex, unclogging the sewerage system, beautifying the area with painted plant pots, and ensuring the overall maintenance of the building. These efforts reflect the department’s commitment to fostering a cleaner and more organized environment for all.
