Launch of CGHS Digital Health Platform Software

The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) is set to undergo a significant digital transformation with the introduction of a next-generation Health Management Information System (HMIS), developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC). This new platform, aimed at enhancing service delivery and administrative efficiency, will officially launch on April 28, 2025. In preparation for this transition, all CGHS services, including those at Wellness Centres, will be temporarily suspended on April 26, 2025, to facilitate data migration and system validation.
Key Features of the New HMIS
The revamped HMIS introduces several key reforms designed to streamline processes and improve user experience. One of the most notable changes is the implementation of a PAN-based unique identification system for beneficiaries. This new feature will eliminate duplicate records and simplify the validation process for entitlements. Additionally, the system will integrate digital verification and contribution tracking, allowing for automatic verification of payments through direct integration with Bharat Kosh. This eliminates the need for manual entry, reducing errors and potential refund issues.
Another significant advancement is the pre-payment scrutiny of applications. This feature ensures that applicants receive guidance on eligibility and contribution amounts before making payments. Furthermore, beneficiaries will now have access to online card modification services, enabling them to manage changes such as card transfers and dependent status entirely online. The new system will also provide real-time application tracking and alerts via SMS and email, enhancing transparency and reducing the need for in-person follow-ups.
Transition to the New Digital Platform
As part of the transition, the old CGHS websites will be deactivated on April 28, 2025. All services and information will be consolidated on the new unified CGHS Digital Platform at www.cghs.mohfw.gov.in. Beneficiaries are encouraged to utilize this new portal for all online services, including registration, application submissions, and grievance redressal. The migration process will ensure that all legacy beneficiary data, including medical history and pharmacy transactions, is securely transferred, adhering to government data privacy standards.
In preparation for the new system, beneficiaries aged 18 and above are advised to link their PAN cards with their CGHS Beneficiary IDs. This step is crucial for ensuring accurate records and facilitating the transition. Additionally, applications for CGHS services that are in progress but not paid for by April 27, 2025, will lapse, requiring beneficiaries to submit fresh applications through the new portal.
Support and Advisory for Beneficiaries
To assist beneficiaries during this transition, the CGHS will provide various support initiatives. Helpdesk services and user manuals will be available on the new CGHS website and mobile app. Continuous support will also be offered through CGHS Card Sections and respective Additional Director Offices. Beneficiaries can expect clear instructions regarding the onboarding process for departments on the new platform.
It is important to note that existing CGHS cards will continue to function normally during this transition. However, starting April 28, 2025, all contributions must be made exclusively through the new CGHS website, as the manual payment process will be discontinued. The CGHS is committed to ensuring a smooth transition to the new system, enhancing the overall experience for beneficiaries and improving the efficiency of health services across the country.
