July Coal Production Goes up by 14.11% to 68.75 Million Tonne

The Ministry of Coal achieved a substantial increase in overall coal production during July 23 to 68.75 million tonnes (MT), surpassing July 22 figures of 60.25 tonnes, an increase of 14 ,11%. Coal India Limited (CIL) production increased to 53.63 tonnes in July 23 compared to 47.29 tonnes in July 22 with a growth of 13.41%. Cumulative coal production (through July 23) was a quantum leap of 292.12 tons (interim) in FY23-24 compared to 265.94 tons for the same period in FY22-23, an increase of 9 .84%.

In addition, the shipment of coal recorded a significant increase in July ’23, reaching an impressive 74.33 tons, showing a remarkable progress from the 67.46 tons recorded in July ’22, with a growth rate of 10.19%. At the same time, Captive/others Coal dispatching demonstrated an outstanding performance, reaching 11.48 MT in July ’23, compared to 9.74 MT in July ’22, an increase of 17.83%. Cumulative Coal Dispatching (through July 23) saw a significant jump of 314.30 tons (interim) in FY23-24 compared to 291.59 tons for the same period in FY22-23 up 7 .79%.

This highlights the efficiency of the coal supply chain in ensuring smooth distribution of coal across the country. The Ministry of Coal is committed to ensuring steady production and shipment of coal during the monsoon season and has implemented a number of strategies to safeguard mining operations and improve operational efficiency.
