iOS 26 Public Beta Launches with Liquid Glass UI and Additional Features: Eligible Devices and Installation Guide

Apple has officially launched the iOS 26 Public Beta for iPhone users, following an extensive testing phase with developers over the past few months. This update introduces a striking new user interface known as Liquid Glass, which enhances visual elements by reflecting and refracting light. In addition to the revamped UI, iOS 26 brings a host of new features, including Call Screening and various customization options, making it an exciting upgrade for users eager to explore the latest advancements.

How to Access the iOS 26 Public Beta

To participate in the iOS 26 Public Beta, users must enroll in the Apple Beta Software Program. Once enrolled, they can easily install the beta firmware on their iPhones. The process begins by visiting beta.apple.com, where users can sign up using their Apple ID. After accepting the terms and conditions, they should navigate to the Settings app on their iPhone. From there, they can go to General > Software Update, where the device will check for any available updates. A new option for Beta Updates will appear at the top of the screen, allowing users to select the iOS 26 Public Beta. After confirming their choice, they can proceed to download and install the update, following the prompts to agree to the terms and conditions.

Compatible iPhone Models for iOS 26 Public Beta

Apple has confirmed that the iOS 26 Public Beta is compatible with iPhone 11 and later models that are enrolled in the Apple Beta Software Program. However, certain features, particularly those related to Apple Intelligence, will be exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the iPhone 16 series. The update is available as a free over-the-air (OTA) download. Eligible models include the iPhone 16 Series, iPhone 15 Series, iPhone 14 Series, iPhone SE (2022), iPhone 13 Series, iPhone 12 Series, and iPhone 11 Series.

New Features in iOS 26 Public Beta

The iOS 26 Public Beta incorporates all the enhancements introduced in the Developer Beta updates since the WWDC 2025 event. The standout feature is the Liquid Glass UI, which interacts with surrounding visual elements, creating a dynamic and cohesive aesthetic across Apple devices, inspired by visionOS. Users will find new customization options for their home and lock screens, including a fresh look for app icons. The Camera app has been redesigned for easier navigation between shooting modes, while the Photos app now features distinct tabs for Library and Collection views.

Additionally, the tab bar in apps like Apple Music, News, and Podcasts has been reimagined, floating near the top of the screen and dynamically adjusting to highlight content. New Apple Intelligence features include Live Translation, which utilizes on-device AI to translate text and audio in real-time across multiple languages. The Call Screening feature, similar to that on Google Pixel devices, allows users to screen calls by gathering information from the caller. Another useful addition is Hold Assist, which notifies users when someone on the other end of a call becomes available. Other notable updates include Lyrics Translation and AutoMix features in Apple Music, enhanced Maps functionality, and AI-driven shortcuts for various applications.
