INS Teg Arrives at Port Victoria, Seychelles

As part of its ongoing mission in the South West Indian Ocean Region, the Indian Navy’s stealth frigate, INS Teg, has docked at Port Victoria, Seychelles, for a scheduled port call from June 26 to June 30, 2025. This visit aims to enhance maritime security cooperation and strengthen bilateral defense relations between India and Seychelles. A series of activities, including high-level meetings and cultural events, are planned during the frigate’s stay.
High-Level Engagements and Collaborative Activities
During its visit, INS Teg will facilitate important interactions between its Commanding Officer and senior officials from the Seychelles government and military. Key meetings are set to include discussions with the Chief of Defence Forces and the Chief of Staff of the Seychelles Peopleโs Defence Forces (SPDF), as well as the High Commissioner of India to Seychelles. These engagements will focus on fostering collaborative efforts and mutual cooperation between the Indian Navy and the SPDF. Additionally, the ship’s crew will formally hand over defense equipment and spares that have been transported from India, further solidifying the defense partnership between the two nations.
Cultural Outreach and Community Engagement
In a bid to promote cultural ties, INS Teg will host a yoga session aligned with the theme of the International Day of Yoga 2025, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” This event will include participation from SPDF members, the Indian diaspora, and the ship’s crew, highlighting the importance of wellness and unity. Furthermore, a cultural evening is scheduled onboard, with invitations extended to dignitaries such as the High Commissioner of India and senior military officials from Seychelles. This gathering aims to celebrate the shared cultural heritage and strengthen interpersonal relationships between the two nations.
Participation in Seychelles National Day Celebrations
On June 29, 2025, INS Teg will take part in the 49th National Day celebrations of Seychelles. A marching contingent from the ship, accompanied by the renowned Indian Naval Band, will participate in a parade. The event will also feature a flypast by the shipโs integral helicopter, showcasing the capabilities of the Indian Navy. This participation underscores India’s commitment to celebrating Seychelles’ national pride and fostering goodwill between the two countries.
Joint Surveillance Operations and Future Deployment
Following the port call, INS Teg will embark personnel from the Seychelles Coast Guard (SCG) to conduct joint surveillance operations in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) from June 30 to July 2, 2025. This initiative aims to enhance maritime safety and combat Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing in the region. The collaboration reaffirms India’s dedication to ensuring the safety of global maritime commons. After completing these operations, INS Teg will continue its deployment, marking a significant step in strengthening maritime security in the Indian Ocean.
