INS Sudarshini Strengthens Ties in Lisbon During Lokayan 26 Expedition
The Indian Navy’s sail training ship, INS Sudarshini, has successfully wrapped up a three-day port call in Lisbon, Portugal, on August 25, 2026, as part of its Lokayan 26 transoceanic expedition. Strengthening Naval Partnerships
During the port visit, the Commanding Officer of INS Sudarshini met with notable figures in the Portuguese Navy, including Rear Admiral Miguel Bessa Pacheco, Commandant of the Portuguese Naval Academy, and Rear Admiral Joao Paulo Silva Pereira, the Deputy Fleet Commander of the Portuguese Navy. These discussions reinforced the strong institutional ties and mutual understanding between the two naval forces.
Engaging with Future Leaders
The sea trainees from INS Sudarshini took part in an enlightening visit to the prestigious Portuguese Naval Academy, known as Escola Naval. They engaged with their Portuguese counterparts, partaking in discussions about seamanship and sail training aboard tall ships. The visit also allowed these future naval leaders to explore the academy’s historic campus and training facilities, further enhancing bilateral ties.
