Indusfood 2025: A Global Culinary Showcase
The 8th edition of Indusfood 2025 was inaugurated today at the Expo Centre in Greater Noida by the Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, Shri Chirag Paswan. This significant event attracted industry leaders, buyers, and distinguished guests from around the globe, including Baba Ramdev, who served as the guest of honor. The Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI) organized the event, which aims to connect the food and beverage sector with international markets. With a focus on enhancing India’s food exports, Indusfood 2025 promises to be a pivotal platform for showcasing Indian cuisine and agricultural products.
The Vision Behind Indusfood
During his inaugural address, Minister Paswan emphasized the importance of Indusfood as a premier trade exhibition. He stated, โOver the years, Indusfood has emerged as one of Indiaโs finest and most globally recognized trade exhibitions.โ The minister highlighted the event’s role in providing international market linkages for the food and beverage sector. He described the transformation of Indusfood into a comprehensive farm-to-fork trade fair as a visionary step by TPCI. This initiative aims to bolster India’s position in the global food market.
Paswan also pointed out the growing demand for processed food due to changing lifestyles and family structures. He believes that this segment will significantly contribute to the Prime Minister’s vision of making India a developed nation, or “Viksit Bharat.” The minister’s remarks reflect a commitment to expanding the processed food industry, which he sees as a key driver of economic growth and food security.
Promoting Indian Cuisine Globally
Minister Paswan stressed the need to promote Indian cuisine worldwide. He stated, โMy government is working toward food security to the world with the mission that no one should sleep hungry.โ He believes that India can play a crucial role as an agricultural producer and exporter. The minister’s vision includes ensuring that Indian food reaches dining tables across the globe. He noted the rich diversity of Indian cuisine, asserting that it does not depend on borders.
The minister also highlighted the importance of food safety alongside taste. He announced that the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) would host a regulatory summit to enhance compliance in the food industry. Additionally, he mentioned the establishment of food testing labs, with plans to add 100 new labs to ensure food safety for consumers. This focus on safety is essential for building trust in Indian food products on the global stage.
Opportunities for Growth in Food Exports
Shri Abhishek Dev, Chairman of APEDA, shared insights on India’s position in the global food export market. He noted that India ranks seventh globally, with food exports reaching $50 billion last year. Dev expressed optimism about setting new records in export growth this year. He emphasized the immense opportunities available, given that the global food market is valued at $4 trillion, of which India currently holds only 2.4%.
The processed food segment presents significant potential for growth. Dev aims to increase value-added exports by 40% over the next three to four years. He also highlighted the organic food market, valued at $147 billion, where India holds a mere 2.5% share. The goal is to quadruple this share within five years. Such ambitious targets underscore the government’s commitment to enhancing India’s agricultural and food export capabilities.
A Platform for Culinary Innovation
Indusfood 2025 is not just about trade; it is also a celebration of culinary innovation and collaboration. Shri Mohit Singla, Chairman of TPCI, emphasized the importance of relationships built over the years. He stated, โWeโre not just looking at numbers or deals. We are celebrating the relationships weโve built, the trust weโve earned.โ The event aims to create a vibrant ecosystem for cross-cultural exchange and partnerships.
This year’s Indusfood features three concurrent trade fairs: Indusfood Food & Beverage, Indusfood Manufacturing, and Indusfood Agri-Tech. This format is designed to foster synergies across the entire farm-to-fork value chain. The event has attracted 1,800 exhibitors and expanded its international pavilion, showcasing participants from around 30 countries. The first Asian Presidentโs Forum will also take place, featuring renowned chefs and culinary experts, further enhancing the event’s profile.
