Indiatourism Delhi Commemorates 11th International Day of Yoga at Qutub Minar

In a vibrant celebration of India’s rich wellness traditions, Indiatourism Delhi, under the Ministry of Tourism, hosted a grand Mass Yoga Session to mark the 11th International Day of Yoga. The event took place at the picturesque Sun Dial Lawns of the Qutub Minar Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” emphasized the vital connection between human health and the well-being of our planet, drawing attention to the importance of yoga in promoting holistic health.
Distinguished Guests and Participants
The Mass Yoga Session attracted over 400 participants, including notable guests such as Shri Gajendra Singh Yadav, Member of the Legislative Assembly, and Shri Lakshay Singhal, District Magistrate of South Delhi. The event also welcomed representatives from the Sri Lankan Embassy, including Deputy High Commissioner Ms. Priyanga Wickramasinghe and Minister Counsellor Ms. Wathsala Amarasinghe. Senior officials from the Ministry of Tourism were present, highlighting the event’s significance in promoting yoga as a global practice. Participants included members from various industry bodies, regional tourist guides, students from the Yuva Tourism Club, and local residents, all coming together to celebrate the essence of yoga.
Programme Highlights and Activities
The session was led by renowned yoga expert Shri Gopal Rishi from Sukrit Wellness, who guided participants through a series of Yogic Asanas and Pranayama techniques. His address underscored yoga’s profound benefits for mental clarity, physical vitality, and spiritual balance. The event began with a welcome address from the Regional Director (North), followed by remarks from Shri Yadav. A highlight of the day was the live broadcast of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s address, which inspired attendees to reflect on the relevance of yoga in their daily lives. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as participants engaged in yoga, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.
