India’s Game Developers Shine at Bharat Tech Triumph

Mumbai, February 27, 2025 – The Bharat Tech Triumph Program (BTTP) concluded its third edition on February 26, 2025, celebrating twenty outstanding game developers who will represent India on the global stage. These winners will showcase their innovative games at prestigious events, including the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2025 in San Francisco, the Start-Up Mahakumbh in India, and the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) later this year.
Celebrating Innovation and Talent
The BTTP, a collaborative initiative with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, aims to elevate India’s game development sector. This year’s edition saw participation from over 1,500 developers and students, marking it as the most expansive yet. The program attracted a diverse array of participants, including more than 1,000 gaming studios, indie developers, and students from top institutions like IITs and IIMs.
The winning games were evaluated by a distinguished jury comprising industry leaders and investors, such as Dr. Mukesh Aghi, Padma Shri Prashanth Prakash, and Archana Jahagirdar. Their expertise ensured that the selected games reflect the best of India’s gaming innovation.
A Growing Industry with Global Potential
The BTTP comes at a pivotal moment for the Indian gaming industry, which is experiencing rapid growth. According to a report by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, the Indian gaming market is currently valued at approximately USD 4 billion and is projected to reach USD 60 billion by 2034. This initiative is designed to position India as a leader in interactive entertainment and indigenous intellectual property creation.
Shri C Senthil Rajan, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, emphasized the sector’s potential for job creation and economic growth. He noted that the AVGC-XR sector, which currently employs around 260,000 professionals, is expected to expand to 2.3 million by 2032. The ministry is committed to fostering this growth through strategic initiatives like WAVES and the National Center of Excellence for AVGC-XR.
Upcoming Events to Showcase Indian Talent
The World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) will take place from May 1 to 4, 2025, in Mumbai. This summit aims to connect industry professionals, investors, and creators, providing a platform for collaboration and innovation in the media and entertainment sector.
WAVES will highlight various industries, including broadcasting, animation, gaming, and digital media, reinforcing India’s position as a hub for content creation and technological advancement. The event promises to amplify India’s creative strengths and foster international partnerships.
As the Indian gaming sector continues to evolve, initiatives like the BTTP and WAVES are crucial in harnessing the potential of local talent and showcasing it on the global stage.
