Road to Game Jam: A Launchpad for Talent
The Road to Game Jam serves as a vital platform for aspiring game developers in India, organized by the Game Developer Association of India (GDAI) in partnership with Kratos Gamer Network (KGeN). This initiative is part of Pillar 2 of the WAVES Summit, which emphasizes Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics, along with Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality and the Metaverse. By providing a national stage for emerging talent, the Road to Game Jam encourages collaboration and creativity, aiming to strengthen India’s position in the global gaming industry.
With over 5,500 registrations from more than 1,650 colleges across 453 cities, the event has garnered significant interest. Participants engaged in Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions and workshops led by industry experts, gaining valuable insights into game design, storytelling, and the business aspects of gaming. Following rigorous evaluations, over 175 teams submitted original games, showcasing the depth of talent present in the country.
Celebrating the Top 10 Finalists
The WAVES Summit will feature the top ten games selected through the Road to Game Jam, representing a diverse array of voices from student teams, solo developers, and early-stage startups. These original titles reflect the best of India’s emerging game development talent and will be presented to a global audience. Each finalist will have the opportunity to showcase their game to an international jury, providing invaluable exposure and feedback. The winning teams from the Road to Game Jam will receive an all-expense-paid trip to the WAVES Summit, where they will present their games. Additionally, the top three entries will compete for a prize pool totaling ₹7 lakh, with ₹3.5 lakh awarded for first place, ₹2 lakh for second, and ₹1.5 lakh for third. This financial support not only incentivizes creativity but also helps nurture the next generation of game developers in India.
