Indian Railways Unveils Nine New Amrit Bharat Express Train Routes

Get ready for an expansion of India’s railway network with the introduction of nine new Amrit Bharat Express trains. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced this significant development, which aims to enhance long-distance passenger services across the country. These new routes will connect West Bengal and Assam with states such as Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra, thereby strengthening inter-state rail connectivity. Since the Amrit Bharat Express was launched in December 2023, 30 services have already been operational, and this latest addition marks a continued effort to improve rail travel in India.
Details of the New Amrit Bharat Express Trains
The newly announced Amrit Bharat Express trains include a variety of routes designed to enhance connectivity across different regions. The list features the Guwahati (Kamakhya) to Rohtak route, the Dibrugarh to Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) service, and the New Jalpaiguri to Nagercoil connection, among others. Other routes include New Jalpaiguri to Tiruchirappalli, Alipurduar to SMVT Bengaluru, and Alipurduar to Mumbai (Panvel). Additionally, Kolkata will see new services to Tambaram, Anand Vihar Terminal, and Banaras. This expansion is part of the government’s initiative to improve passenger comfort and accessibility while promoting commerce and tourism.
Affordable Ticket Pricing
The ticket prices for the new Amrit Bharat Express trains are set at approximately Rs 500 per 1,000 kilometers, with lower fares for shorter journeys. This pricing strategy aims to make long-distance travel more accessible to a broader segment of the population. By connecting regions that are often separated by geographical barriers, the Amrit Bharat Express trains are expected to facilitate greater mobility and economic opportunities for passengers.
Modern Features and Amenities
The Amrit Bharat Express trains are equipped with a range of modern passenger facilities designed to enhance the travel experience. Features include foldable snack tables, mobile phone and bottle holders, and radium floor strips for safety. The trains also offer comfortable seating and berths, modern toilets with electro-pneumatic flushing, and fire-suppression mechanisms. Additionally, provisions for differently-abled passengers, fast charging points, and pantry cars are included. The trains utilize push-pull technology, allowing for faster acceleration and deceleration, with a maximum speed of 130 km/h. Future plans for the Amrit Bharat Express include the rollout of Amrit Bharat 3.0, which will introduce air-conditioned coaches to further improve passenger comfort.
