Indian Air Force Joins RAAF for Exercise Pitch Black 2026
The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to commence its participation in Exercise Pitch Black 2026 at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base in Darwin, Australia. Running from July 20 to August 7, this premier biennial multinational air combat exercise brings together air forces from around the globe. The focus on night flying in vast, unpopulated regions of northern Australia speaks to the sophistication and challenges of modern aerial operations.
In this year’s edition, a significant number of military forces will come together, showcasing their capabilities in complex Large Force Employment and multinational air combat exercises. The IAF contingent, made up of highly skilled Air Warriors, will feature expert pilots, engineers, technicians, controllers, and other specialists. Equipped with the advanced Rafale multirole fighter aircraft, the IAF will also utilize the C-17 Globemaster III and the IL-78 Air-to-Air Refueling aircraft to enhance its combat support roles.
