India Participates in GITEX Africa 2025, Africa’s Largest Tech and Startup Show

Africa’s largest technology and startup event, GITEX Africa 2025, wrapped up recently in Marrakesh, Morocco. The three-day summit brought together policy leaders, innovators, and changemakers to discuss collaborative opportunities aimed at fostering inclusive and equitable growth in the global economy. Among the notable attendees was India’s Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, who engaged in various high-level discussions and meetings throughout the event.

During the summit, Minister Chaudhary emphasized the transformative impact of India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). He highlighted key developments such as Aadhaar for digital identity, UPI for digital payments, and ONDC for e-commerce. He noted that these advancements have significantly improved various sectors, including healthcare. Chaudhary also mentioned the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), which has successfully onboarded over one crore users in just over a year and a half. He expressed optimism about the potential for collaboration with African nations, particularly in areas rich with opportunities for economic growth.
Bilateral Meetings Foster Collaboration
On the sidelines of GITEX, Minister Chaudhary held fruitful bilateral meetings with several Moroccan officials, including Ms. Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister of Digital Transition, and Prof. Azzedine EL Midaoui, Minister of Higher Education. Discussions focused on exploring synergies in artificial intelligence, research, and capacity building. Chaudhary shared insights on how India’s Digital Public Infrastructure can serve as a catalyst for inclusion and innovation, while also discussing the country’s experience in developing scalable technology for public benefit.

India’s participation in GITEX Africa 2025 underscored its position as a leader in digital innovation and skill development. Initiatives like Skill India and Digital India, along with scalable projects such as Aadhaar and UPI, have set benchmarks for inclusive technology-driven models. These frameworks are increasingly recognized as global best practices, providing adaptable solutions for developing nations aiming to create resilient and future-ready societies.
