India and Vietnam Strengthen Ties During Historic State Visit
In a significant diplomatic event, Indian President Smt. Droupadi Murmu welcomed H.E. Mr. To Lam, President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, at Rashtrapati Bhavan today, May 6, 2026. Additionally, the President highlighted the role of Vietnam in India’s “Act East” policy and its significance within the framework of ASEAN’s Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. She praised Vietnam’s contributions to the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative, emphasizing the importance of regional cooperation in addressing shared challenges.
Defence and security were noted as vital aspects of the India-Vietnam relationship. President Murmu reiterated India’s dedication to collaborating with Vietnam to promote regional peace and stability.
