India and Russia Strengthen Ties at INNOPROM India 2026
National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Limited (NICDC) recently made waves at the inaugural INNOPROM India 2026, held from September 9 to 11, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. This landmark event serves as a vital platform for enhancing the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, uniting government representatives, technology firms, and industry stakeholders from both nations.
The two countries have set an ambitious bilateral trade target of approximately ₹9.45 lakh crore (around US$100 billion) by the year 2030, focusing on fostering deeper ties in manufacturing, investment, technology cooperation, and logistics. Supported by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry of India and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, INNOPROM’s primary objective is to bolster collaborative efforts in manufacturing and innovation.
Engaging with Russian Industry Leaders
During the event, NICDC showcased India’s industrial corridors as prime destinations for global manufacturers seeking long-term investment. Their exhibition area attracted significant attention, as delegates expressed keen interest in initiatives such as NICDC’s industrial smart cities and investment-ready infrastructure.
NICDC representatives engaged in numerous business-to-business (B2B) meetings, where they discussed potential collaborations on industrial development and manufacturing cooperation. They visited various stalls to glean insights into emerging technologies and manufacturing solutions, fostering a rich exchange of knowledge and perspectives.
Showcasing India’s Industrial Corridor Initiatives
One of the highlights was NICDC’s presentation of the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP), which includes 11 industrial corridors and 20 greenfield industrial smart cities across 13 states. So far, four industrial smart cities have been established, while 16 additional projects are underway. Together, these developments represent an impressive investment potential of around ₹5.35 lakh crore (US$56.6 billion) and the promise of nearly 1.4 million jobs.
The already completed smart cities include significant locations such as the Dholera Special Investment Region in Gujarat and the Integrated Industrial Township in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, which are equipped with essential services and robust connectivity to transport networks.
Future Prospects and Strategic Collaborations
Potential areas for India-Russia manufacturing cooperation were highlighted, including sectors like renewable energy, automotive, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, and advanced engineering. Prominent international companies from Russia are already operating within these NICDC cities, underscoring the organized efforts toward successful industrial collaboration.
NICDC has been actively engaging with Russian government bodies and industry groups to map out joint ventures, investment discussions, and opportunities for technology partnerships. Previous collaborations have pinpointed promising locations like the Krishnapatnam and Tumakuru industrial areas for future ventures.
Beyond Industrial Corridors
Besides promoting industrial corridors, NICDC also plays a role as the Project Management Agency for the Prime Minister Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks, aiming to create modern textile manufacturing ecosystems. The Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojna (BHAVYA) initiative further exemplifies NICDC’s commitment to developing 100 investment-ready industrial parks across India, contributing significantly to job creation and economic growth.
As India continues to enhance its manufacturing capabilities through various initiatives including digital logistics, NICDC is positioning the nation as a competitive destination for global investments. This proactive approach not only strengthens bilateral ties with Russia but also paves the way for a resilient manufacturing future driven by innovation and collaboration.
