Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and H.E. Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan, inaugurated the Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck Mother and Child Hospital, a state-of-the-art hospital, built with the assistance of the Government of India in Thimphu. This state-of-the-art facility was constructed with the invaluable assistance of the Indian Government. It represents a significant milestone in the collaborative efforts between these two nations to enhance healthcare infrastructure and services in the region. The inauguration ceremony was a reflection of the strong partnership between India and Bhutan, and the commitment of both nations to improving the overall health and well-being of their citizens. The hospital is expected to provide world-class medical care to mothers and children, with a focus on reducing maternal and infant mortality rates in the region. This initiative is a testament to the shared vision of India and Bhutan to promote social welfare and sustainable development in the region.

The Government of India has provided support for the development of the Gyaltsuen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck Mother and Child Hospital, a 150-bed facility, in two phases.
