IIMC Dhenkanal Opens Admissions for Odia Journalism

The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Dhenkanal has officially launched the admission process for its Post Graduate Diploma in Odia Journalism (PGDOJ) for the 2025-26 academic year. This one-year, full-time program is designed to equip students with essential skills in journalism, media writing, reporting, editing, digital communication, and public relations, with a particular emphasis on the Odia language. Applications are now being accepted, with the deadline set for April 30, 2025.

Key Dates and Application Process

Starting March 3, 2025, prospective students can apply for the PG Diploma in Odia Journalism through both online and offline channels. The application window will remain open until April 30, 2025. Candidates will need to take an entrance examination scheduled for May 18, 2025, which will take place in five cities across Odisha: Bhubaneswar, Dhenkanal, Berhampur, Sambalpur, and Balasore. This entrance test will evaluate candidates on their proficiency in the Odia language, writing skills, general knowledge, and aptitude for journalism.

The program has a total of 30 seats available, with reservations in place for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD categories according to Government of India regulations. To be eligible, applicants must hold a Bachelorโ€™s degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Final-year students may also apply, provided they submit their final mark sheets by September 30, 2025. The maximum age limit for applicants is 25 years for the General category, with age relaxations applicable for reserved categories.

Application Submission and Fees

Interested candidates can download the admission form and detailed instructions from the IIMC website at https://iimc.gov.in/language-courses-25-26. Hard copies of the admission forms are also available at several locations, including the IIMC Dhenkanal Campus Office and the National Academy of Broadcasting and Multimedia in Bhubaneswar.

For those opting for online submission, applications can be submitted via a Google Form link: https://forms.gle/ZzU1Ftf7UCe9kFr37. The entrance test fee is set at Rs. 500 for the General category and Rs. 350 for SC/ST/EWS/PwD candidates, which can be paid through UPI, NEFT, or bank transfer.

Curriculum and Internship Opportunities

The PG Diploma in Odia Journalism covers a comprehensive curriculum that includes communication theory, reporting and writing, editing, digital media, media laws and ethics, audio-visual production, development journalism, and advertising and public relations. A significant component of the program is a mandatory one-month internship with reputable media organizations, providing students with practical experience in the field.

The total course fee is Rs. 55,500.
