Historic Passing Out Parade at INS Chilka

On March 7, 2025, INS Chilka in Odisha celebrated a momentous occasion as 2,966 trainees, including 402 women Agniveers, completed their rigorous 16-week naval training. The Passing Out Parade (POP) featured a unique post-sunset ceremony, reviewed by Vice Admiral V Srinivas, the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command. This event not only marks the end of their initial training but also the beginning of their journey in the Indian Navy.
Celebrating Achievement and Commitment
The Passing Out Parade was a grand affair attended by distinguished veterans and family members of the trainees. Notable attendees included Sureddy Siva Kumar, Ex-SPO, and sports personality Eldhose Paul, among others. The ceremony highlighted the successful completion of training, emphasizing the Indian Navy’s commitment to fostering a gender-neutral environment. This initiative aims to transform both men and women into a combat-ready, cohesive, and future-ready force.
During his address, Vice Admiral Srinivas congratulated the trainees for their hard work and dedication. He encouraged the Agniveers to continuously develop their skills and stay technologically adept while embodying the Navy’s core values of Duty, Honour, and Courage. He also expressed gratitude to the parents of the Agniveers for their support, acknowledging their vital role in shaping the future of the nation.
Acknowledging Excellence
The ceremony also recognized outstanding performers among the trainees. Vice Admiral Srinivas awarded medals and trophies to the top achievers. Devraj Singh Rathore and Pramodh Singh received the Chief of the Naval Staff Rolling Trophy and Gold Medal for Best Agniveer in their respective categories. Mansa Gulivindhala was honored with the Gen Bipin Rawat Rolling Trophy for Best Woman Agniveer, while Mohit Kumar received accolades for Best NVK (GD).
In addition to individual awards, the overall Championship Trophy was presented to Angre Division, with Eklavya Division as the runners-up. The event also featured the unveiling of the 02/24 edition of “Ankur,” the bilingual magazine of INS Chilka, showcasing the achievements and experiences of the trainees.
