Hardik Pandya Labels This Player as the ‘Ace’ of Mumbai Indians

In a thrilling match at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai Indians (MI) secured a four-wicket victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Skipper Hardik Pandya hailed his bowlers for their strategic execution on a challenging pitch, as MI restricted SRH to a total of 162 runs. Chasing down the target, Mumbai finished strong at 166 for six in 18.1 overs, marking their second consecutive win in the IPL 2025 season.

Pandya highlighted the smart bowling tactics employed by his team, emphasizing the importance of sticking to basic plans. He noted that the pitch provided early assistance, allowing MI bowlers to capitalize effectively. “We decided to use change of pace balls,” he explained, underlining the team’s adaptability. The performance showcased the bowlers’ ability to control the game and limit SRH’s scoring opportunities.

Will Jacks Shines with Bat and Ball

Will Jacks emerged as the standout performer for Mumbai Indians, contributing both with the ball and the bat. He delivered an impressive bowling performance, claiming two wickets for just 14 runs. In addition, Jacks scored a brisk 36 runs off 26 balls, playing a crucial role in guiding his team to victory. Pandya commended Jacks for his all-round capabilities, noting his excellence as a fielder and his skill in executing critical overs. Jacks’ contributions proved vital, especially during the tense moments of the chase. With 42 runs needed from 42 balls, the MI team opted to take their time, demonstrating patience and composure under pressure. Jacks’ ability to perform in key situations has made him an invaluable asset for the team this season.

SRH Captain Acknowledges Challenges

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins acknowledged that his team fell short of a competitive total on a tricky wicket. He expressed regret over not scoring enough runs, stating, “We would have liked a couple more with the bat.” The pitch, which was expected to be fast and fluent, did not play to their advantage, limiting their scoring potential throughout the innings.

Cummins praised MI’s bowlers for their disciplined performance, noting that they effectively shut down SRH’s hitting areas. Despite their efforts, Cummins felt that a total of 160 runs was slightly below par in the match. With this defeat, SRH now faces a challenging situation, having lost five out of seven games this season. Cummins emphasized the need for improvement, particularly during away matches, as they look to regroup and perform better in their upcoming games.
