Haj Committee Launches Training for Pilgrims

The Haj Committee of India has initiated a two-day Training of Trainers Programme for Haj 2025. This event began today at the Haj House in Mumbai. The programme aims to equip trainers with the necessary skills to guide Indian pilgrims effectively. Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kumar, Secretary of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, inaugurated the event. The training is crucial as it prepares trainers to assist pilgrims in navigating the complexities of the Haj pilgrimage.
Importance of Structured Training
During the inauguration, Dr. Kumar emphasized the significance of structured training for trainers. He highlighted that well-prepared trainers can significantly enhance the experience of pilgrims. The training sessions will cover various aspects of the Haj pilgrimage, ensuring that trainers are well-versed in the necessary information and skills.
Dr. Kumar also introduced the upgraded Haj Suvidha App 2.0, which now features a Chatbot. This tool is designed to address frequently asked questions from pilgrims, providing them with instant support. He urged trainers to familiarize themselves with this app and other technological tools. By doing so, they can offer better guidance and assistance to the pilgrims.
The role of State Haj Inspectors was also underscored. These inspectors are vital in providing on-ground support, ensuring that pilgrims have a smooth experience during their journey. The structured training aims to create a network of knowledgeable trainers who can support pilgrims effectively.
Enhancements in Technology and Support
Shri C.P.S. Bakshi, Joint Secretary (Haj), reiterated the programme’s objective. He stated that the goal is to ensure that every pilgrim is well-prepared for a seamless Haj experience. The integration of technology into the training process is a significant step forward. The Haj Suvidha App 2.0, with its new features, will streamline many processes for pilgrims.
Shri A.P. Abdullakutty, Chairman of the Haj Committee of India, also spoke at the event. He urged trainers to keep pilgrims informed about the latest facilities and innovations. This information is crucial for helping pilgrims perform their rituals smoothly. The emphasis on technology and support reflects the committee’s commitment to enhancing the overall experience for pilgrims.
Comprehensive Training Sessions
The first day of the training programme included two key sessions. These sessions focused on Haj Operations Overview and Haj Administration & Technology. Participants discussed all operational, logistical, and administrative aspects of the Haj pilgrimage. This comprehensive approach ensures that trainers are well-equipped to handle various scenarios that may arise during the pilgrimage.
The event attracted numerous dignitaries, resource persons, and stakeholders. Officials from State Haj Committees, representatives from airlines, banks, and customs were present. Around 600 trainers participated in the training, highlighting the scale and importance of this initiative.
On the second day of the training, scheduled for February 25, sessions will focus on Haj Rituals & Pilgrimsโ Well-being, Travel, Logistics, Forex, and Safety. This diverse range of topics will further prepare trainers to support pilgrims effectively.
New Initiatives for Haj 2025
The Haj Committee of India has introduced several new initiatives to enhance the pilgrimage experience for Haj 2025. These initiatives include early preparation, online application and payment through the Haj Suvidha App, and streamlined passport collection.
Additionally, the introduction of international-standard baggage tags and PVC ID cards will replace traditional paper IDs. The selection process for Haj Trainers and State Haj Inspectors has also been revamped, now incorporating CBT and interview-based assessments.
These initiatives reflect the committee’s commitment to improving the pilgrimage experience. By leveraging technology and enhancing support systems, the Haj Committee aims to ensure that every pilgrim has a fulfilling and smooth journey during Haj 2025.
