Government today said that there is no proposal under consideration to change the retirement age of the Central Government employees

The Government today affirmed that no proposal to change the retirement age of Central Government employees is being studied.

Responding to a written question in the Lok Sabha, Union State Minister (independently) for Science and Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Complaints, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh informed that 122 officers have been dismissed under Rule 56(j) in the past three years (2020-2023), including the current year.

Dr. Jitendra Singh provided details based on updated information/data available on Probity Portal (as of 30.06.2023) provided by different Ministries/Departments/Cadress Supervisory Authorities (CCA), Core Rules Provisions (FR)-56(j )/similar measures have been invoked against the officers.

The minister said that the goal of the review process under FR 56(j)/similar provisions is to bring efficiency and strengthen the administrative machinery. The government has also been steadily striving to place more emphasis on digitalisation, increased use of e-office, simplification of rules, periodic cadre restructuring and abolition of redundant laws to strengthen administration and improve efficiency overall work in governance.
