Government Partners with Swiggy to Launch 'Swiggy Skills' Initiative for Job and Skill Opportunities

To help India achieve its goal of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has joined hands with Swiggy to launch the ‘Swiggy Skills’ initiative. This new program will offer skill training, internships, and job opportunities within Swiggy’s network of food delivery and quick commerce services.

Under this initiative, the Swiggy partner platform will be linked with the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH). This will give Swiggy’s 2.4 lakh delivery partners and restaurant staff access to online skill development courses and certifications, helping them improve their skills and find better job opportunities.

Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Skill Development, said, “The logistics sector will play a big role in India’s progress by 2047. Our government is supporting this sector by launching the National Logistics Policy and encouraging skilling and education. This partnership with Swiggy shows how public and private partnerships can create new opportunities for workers.”

Swiggy, which operates in 700 cities, is a leading company in food delivery and quick commerce. With this partnership, Swiggy aims to offer more than just delivery jobs. It will provide certification courses, training, and job opportunities in areas like restaurant operations, retail management, and logistics. Youth who complete training under MSDE’s schemes can also find internships and jobs in Swiggy’s operations.

Shri Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy Food Marketplace, said that Swiggy will use its apps to help delivery partners and restaurant staff access online training and certification. He also announced that 3,000 individuals across India will be recruited for Swiggy Instamart, and 200 youth trained by MSDE will get internships in Swiggy’s quick commerce operations. Swiggy’s volunteering program will also create training modules on topics like Artificial Intelligence, Marketing, Retail, and Logistics.
