Recognizing the pivotal role of civil services in achieving India’s developmental goals and national priorities, the Government has launched the National Program for Civil Services Capacity Building (NPCSCB) โ€” Mission Karmayogi, as announced by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh.

Dr. Singh, who serves as the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, MoS PMO, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space, as well as MoS Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, emphasized that Mission Karmayogi aims to strengthen the capacity-building efforts for civil servants across the Centre, States, and Union Territories. During a session in the Lok Sabha, he highlighted that the Government has introduced an integrated online training platform, iGOT, to support these initiatives.

“Mission Karmayogi will provide continuous learning opportunities for lakhs of government employees to upgrade their skills and adopt a people-centric approach,” said Dr. Singh. He also noted that Civil Services Training Institutes are being encouraged to collaborate with various institutions, including universities and research bodies, both domestically and internationally, to enhance the training programs through immersive experiential learning.

Furthermore, Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are playing a significant role by offering both long and short-duration courses on Public Policy and Management for civil servants. These institutions are also conducting collaborative programs with global entities to incorporate the best global theories and practices into their public policy curriculum.

However, Dr. Singh mentioned that no civil servant has been sponsored by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) to study or receive training in public policy and public management abroad over the past two years.
