Google’s Pixel Studio App Gains Human Image Generation

Google has rolled out an exciting update to its Pixel Studio app as part of the March Pixel Drop, introducing the ability to generate images of people. Initially launched in August 2024 with the Pixel 9 series, this feature marks a significant enhancement for users of compatible Pixel devices. The app leverages Google’s advanced AI models to create images and stickers based on user inputs, including text prompts.

New Features Enhance User Experience

The latest update, which brings Pixel Studio to version 1.5, includes several notable features aimed at improving user interaction. The most significant addition is the capability to generate images and stickers of people using text prompts. This feature was temporarily disabled due to concerns over the AI’s ability to produce racially inappropriate images. Following the release of the Imagen 3 image generation model in December 2024, Google has cautiously reintroduced this functionality.

According to Google, users can now create images of people solely through text prompts, as the app does not support image inputs for this feature. Additionally, the app has expanded its availability to Germany and Japan, now offering native language support, which enhances accessibility for users in these regions. Previously, the app was limited to English and select countries.

Moreover, the update introduces a new floating action button (FAB) on the home screen, allowing users to generate stickers more efficiently. This button enables users to create stickers directly by entering a text prompt or using an image as a reference. The update also includes a new Light theme option, complementing the existing dark and system default themes.

Broader Enhancements in the March Pixel Drop

The March Pixel Drop not only enhances the Pixel Studio app but also includes several other improvements across Google’s Pixel ecosystem. One of the key updates is the expansion of Gemini Live’s supported languages to 45, making it more versatile for users worldwide. Additionally, the Pixel Screenshots app has introduced a new Suggestions feature, which provides users with recommendations for organizing their screenshot collections.

These updates reflect Google’s commitment to enhancing user experience and accessibility across its devices. By continuously improving its applications and services, Google aims to keep its Pixel users engaged and satisfied with innovative features and functionalities.
