Google Launches AI-Driven Virtual Try-On Shopping for Select Users

Google has launched an innovative artificial intelligence (AI)-powered virtual try-on shopping feature for users in the United States. Initially introduced during the Google I/O event in May, this feature is part of the company’s Shopping Graph initiative. It allows users to virtually try on a vast array of outfits through a simple process, enhancing the online shopping experience. Additionally, Google has upgraded its price tracking feature to provide users with more tailored notifications.

Virtual Try-On Feature Now Available

Google has officially rolled out its virtual try-on feature across the U.S., enabling users to experiment with โ€œbillions of apparel itemsโ€ from its extensive Shopping Graph. This feature is integrated into AI Mode, Google Shopping, and product listings on Google Images. Users can access this functionality by navigating to Google Shopping and selecting any product listing. For those using AI Mode or Google Images, they must first search for a specific style or outfit and choose from the displayed results. When the feature is available, a โ€œtry it onโ€ icon will appear, prompting users to upload a full-length photo of themselves. Once the photo is uploaded, Google’s AI technology will generate an image showing how the selected item would look on the user.

The virtual try-on feature also includes a history function, allowing users to scroll through previous looks they have tried on, save their favorite outfits, and share them with friends. This capability is powered by a specialized fashion-based image generation model that accurately understands the human body and how different fabrics interact with various body types.

Enhanced Price Tracking Capabilities

In addition to the virtual try-on feature, Google has upgraded its price tracking system, which is also being rolled out in the U.S. This new version allows users to set alerts for specific sizes and colors of products, along with their desired price points. This means that users will only receive notifications when the apparel they are interested in becomes available in their selected size and color, avoiding irrelevant alerts for other variations.

This enhancement aims to streamline the shopping experience by ensuring that users are only notified about products that meet their specific criteria. By providing more personalized alerts, Google hopes to improve user satisfaction and engagement with its shopping platform.

Upcoming Product Discovery Feature

Looking ahead, Google is developing a product discovery feature designed to assist users in finding style inspiration or specific outfits for various occasions. This feature will allow users to engage with AI Mode and request outfit suggestions. The chatbot will then search through the company’s Shopping Graph, utilizing proprietary vision match technology to present relevant product listings that align with the user’s preferences.

This feature is expected to be available to U.S. users later this year, further enhancing the shopping experience by making it easier for consumers to discover new styles and products that suit their needs. As Google continues to innovate in the realm of online shopping, these advancements reflect the company’s commitment to integrating AI technology into everyday consumer experiences.
