Google Doodle Shines Bright for UAE National Day 2024
On December 2, 2024, Google Doodle celebrates UAE National Day 2024 with a special illustration. This day marks the historic moment in 1971 when the emirates of Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Sharjah, and Umm Al Quwain came together under one flag, creating the United Arab Emirates (UAE). A year later, in 1972, Ras Al Khaimah joined as the seventh emirate, completing the union.
This year marks 53 years of UAE’s independence, and the celebrations are as colorful as ever. Homes, cars, and businesses are decorated with the UAE flag’s vibrant colors — red, green, white, and black — symbolizing unity and pride.
The festivities also include grand theatrical performances, patriotic speeches, and acrobatic shows, all highlighting the UAE’s growth as a global leader in business and technology.
Schools take part by dressing children in traditional outfits like the thobe and kandura, and students perform the Al Yowla, a cherished traditional dance. Car rallies, cultural shows, and dazzling fireworks displays are popular activities throughout the day. As night falls, the skies light up with fireworks synchronized with lasers and music, creating magical moments for everyone to enjoy.
Google’s doodle reminds us of the UAE’s rich history and how far the nation has come in just over five decades.
