Ginger Hotels Expands South with New Property in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu

The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), recognized as the premier hospitality entity in the country, has recently announced a significant development in its portfolio with the launch of a new Ginger hotel in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. This greenfield project marks an important step for the Ginger brand, which focuses on affordable, smart hospitality options.

Strategically Positioned to Cater to Economic Growth

Ms. Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development at IHCL, highlighted the importance of Tuticorin as an emerging economic hub in South India. Driven by robust industrial and investment activities, particularly in the automobile and energy sectors, the region is experiencing an upsurge in long-stay demand from business travelers. “This signing reinforces IHCL’s commitment to cater to evolving needs in high-potential destinations,” she remarked, expressing excitement about the partnership with local promoter Mr. R. Gajendran.

Occupying a strategic location along the Tirunelveli-Tuticorin highway, the soon-to-open Ginger Tuticorin will feature 100 well-appointed rooms, ensuring convenient access to the city’s industrial and commercial hubs. The hotel is designed to cater to both business and leisure travelers, with modern amenities including Ginger’s renowned Qmin restaurant, which offers a range of culinary experiences, and a vibrant bar for social interactions. Additionally, the hotel will provide versatile meeting spaces that are perfect for corporate events, alongside a state-of-the-art fitness center dedicated to holistic well-being.

Tuticorin: A Gateway to Industry and Trade

Known locally as Thoothukudi, Tuticorin is a key port city situated on the picturesque Coromandel Coast along the Bay of Bengal. The city has a historical reputation for its maritime trade and is integral to Tamil Nadu’s economy, boasting significant operations in shipping, salt production, and fishing. As Tuticorin transforms into a vital center for industrial and manufacturing activities, the introduction of the Ginger brand is poised to enhance the hospitality landscape, catering specifically to the demands of its growing business segment.

With this latest addition, IHCL will operate a total of 28 hotels across Tamil Nadu, with an impressive 10 more currently under development. The company’s aggressive expansion strategy reflects its intention to dominate the hospitality market in key regions across the nation.
